It looks like a tiny dim sum spot in Allston has closed its doors after being in business for a little less than three years.
According to a poster on the Chowhound site, Gitlo's Dim Sum Bakery at 164 Brighton Avenue has shut down, with a new Greek dining spot apparently moving into the space. Calls placed to Gitlo's have gone unanswered, their Facebook page has been dormant for awhile, and a "spotter" for us who works in Allston and regularly gives us information on the neighborhood has confirmed that it has indeed closed.
Since opening in late 2007, Gitlo's Dim Sum Bakery has been known as a no-frills place featuring dim sum every day for lunch and dinner. The restaurant has offered such dim sum items as shumai, dumplings, homemade clear noodles, daikon cake, and custard bun.
Before Gitlo's moved into the spot (which is just west of Harvard Avenue), a Vietnamese restaurant called V. Majestic resided here for a number of years.
As soon as we find out more information on the restaurant that is apparently moving into the space, we will post an update here.
