A hotel and condominium complex in downtown Boston that contains an elegant restaurant with a three-star Michelin chef behind it may end up being foreclosed.
According to the Boston Herald, Prudential Insurance is trying to foreclose on the now-bankrupt W Boston Hotel and Residences on Stuart Street in the Theatre District, though the developer indicates that a viable bankruptcy reorganization for the building is in the works. The article mentions that a court hearing in the case will be held in November.
The W Boston Hotel and Residences is home to Market by Jean-Georges, which opened last fall at the same time the hotel opened. Market by Jean-Georges is a casual upscale restaurant that focuses on fresh, local, seasonal ingredients, featuring a number of seafood dishes as well as steak, lamb chops, pizza, and more. The person behind the restaurant is famed chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who is also behind award-winning dining spots such as Jean Georges Restaurant at Columbus Circle in Manhattan.
There is no indication at this time that Market by Jean-Georges will be affected by the bankruptcy and possible foreclosure. (If anything changes, we will post an update here.)
The address for Market by Jean-Georges (as well as the W Boston Hotel and Residences) is 100 Stuart Street, Boston, MA, 02116. the phone number for the restaurant is (617) 310-6790. And the website can be found at: http://www.marketbyjgboston.com/
