Bourbon Coffee Is Opening in Cambridge

A new coffee shop and cafe with roots in a Central African country is coming to the Porter Square section of Cambridge.

According to the Cambridge Day website, Bourbon Coffee is going to be opening in the Porter Exchange building on Mass. Ave., moving into the space where an outlet of The Gap used to be. The article mentions that the Rwanda-based cafe, which had originally been looking to open at the old Marino's site up the street in North Cambridge, will be located at the front of the Exchange building, which also contains a number of Asian eateries, including Blue Fin and Cafe Mami.

Based on the cafe menu within the their website, the upcoming Bourbon Coffee in Cambridge will feature Rwandan coffee as well as tea and smoothies. The cafe in Cambridge will likely offer food items as well, including cookies, muffins, pastries, cakes, pies, tea bread, and a variety of sandwiches.

Bourbon Coffee currently has three locations in Rwanda, as well as one in Washington, DC. An outlet in New York City is apparently on the way as well. [November 23, 2011 update: The New York outlet is now open.]
