As reported a few months ago, a new restaurant from the people behind a Newton dining spot is coming to South Boston, and it will be replacing a now-closed neighborhood Irish pub and eatery.
An email sent to us from Goldstein Pierce indicates that Local 149 will be opening on P Street in the City Point section of South Boston, moving into the space where the Farragut House had been. Folks from The Biltmore Bar and Grille on Chestnut Street in Newton Upper Falls will run the new restaurant, which looks to be a neighborhood pub with both an extensive craft beer list and a varied cocktail list. The email mentions that menu items at Local 149 will include hog wings, chicken & waffles, a number of seafood items, and a cheese and charcuterie selection as well.
Expect a mid-January opening for Local 149. [March 16, 2011 update: According to UrbanDaddy, Local 149 is having a soft opening today.]
The address for this new restaurant in the City Point section of South Boston is: Local 149, 149 P Street, South Boston, MA 02127.
