Nubar Opening within the Sheraton Commander in Cambridge

A new restaurant and lounge is getting ready to open near Harvard Square in Cambridge, and it will be located within a decades-old hotel.

According to Grub Street Boston, Nubar is planning to open in the next two weeks or so within the Sheraton Commander on Garden Street (about a block from Cambridge Common). Based on the Grub Street article and the restaurant's Facebook page, it looks like Nubar will be a chic but comfortable place that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, and it will feature comfort food as well as a mix of traditional and modern cocktails. Included on the menu will be clam chowder, grilled calamari, a meze plate, flatbreads, burgers, statler chicken breast, steak frites, grilled pork loin, and roasted duck breast.

The Sheraton Commander, which first opened in 1927, had been home to a dining spot called 16 Garden Street Restaurant & Lounge, which Nubar is replacing.

[April 14 update: A phone call placed to the Sheraton Commander indicates that Nubar plans to open today.]

The address for this soon-to-open restaurant within the Sheraton Commander is: Nubar, 16 Garden Street, Cambridge, MA, 02138. The restaurant's website can be found at: http://www.nubarcambridge.com/
