[Ed note: This article was edited on February 3, 2012, to reflect the fact that the upcoming restaurant now has a name.]
A restaurant in the Harvard Square section of Cambridge that features inventive comfort food dishes is closing its doors.
An email from The Grafton Group indicates that Redline on JFK Street in the heart of the square is shutting down on Saturday, May 28 after being in business for about nine years. The email mentions that a new restaurant from The Grafton Group will be opening in the Redline spot this fall, with the Redline team apparently remaining on board. It looks like the menu and space will be completely revamped, and a new name will be given to the dining spot. [February 3, 2012 update: As noted above, the name of the new eatery will be "Park."]
[April 10, 2012 update: According to the Thrillist site, Park plans to open tomorrow (Wednesday. April 11). The new spot will be divided into four sections, including a tavern, a den, a "classroom" (with a fireplace) showing Harvard Square through the years, and a private back room. It appears that Park will feature upscale comfort food and New American fare, and it will have an extensive beer list.]
[April 11, 2012 update: A note from Marlo Marketing/Communications indicates that Park will indeed be opening at 5:00 PM today.]
Redline featured mostly classic American dishes over the years, including such items as pulled pork sliders, chicken wings, tater tots, chili, burgers, grilled salmon, sweet potato gnocchi, and chicken pot pie.
The address for the upcoming restaurant that is taking the place of Redline) in Harvard Square is: Park, 59 JFK Street, Cambridge, MA, 02138.
