A Latin American restaurant in Revere has closed, and the people behind it may also be behind a new eatery going into the space, which will apparently be featuring a buffet-style setup.
According to a poster on the Chowhound site, La Puerta del Sol on Squire Road (Route 60) has shut its doors, and a sign for a new spot called the Squire Road Buffet will be taking over the space. A check on the City of Revere website confirms this, as a Revere License Commission meeting indicates that the manager of La Puerta del Sol has requested a change of name for the restaurant to the Squire Road Buffet.
La Puerta del Sol first opened in the fall of 2009, moving into the space where the BBQ joint Uncle Pete's Hickory Ribs had been. A mix of Mexican and Central and South American fare was offered at La Puerta del Sol, including such items as tacos, quesadillas, tamales, and pupusas.
The address for the now-closed La Puerta del Sol (and upcoming Squire Road Buffet) is 72 Squire Road, Revere, MA, 02151.
