It looks like an upscale restaurant in Somerville's Davis Square neighborhood is going to be setting up an old-style watering hole this fall, and it appears that the barroom will be within the eatery itself.
According to Zagat, the folks behind Foundry on Elm are planning to create a "pre-Prohibition–style" bar that will be called Saloon. The article indicates that Saloon will be featuring mixed drinks, a variety of beers, and a limited menu that includes bar food and seasonal small plates. Zagat says that Saloon will open sometime in the late fall, and it gives the address of Foundry on Elm for the new spot, which means that Foundry on Elm will be using its downstairs space for Saloon.
[December 12 update: According to UrbanDaddy, Saloon is planning to soft-open tomorrow (Tuesday, December 13).]
Foundry on Elm first opened last September, bringing to the area a place to get upscale comfort food, New American dishes, old-fashioned drinks, and an array of beers and wines.
The address for Foundry on Elm (and Saloon) is: Foundry on Elm, 255 Elm Street, Somerville, MA, 02144. The phone number is (617) 628-9999. And the website for Foundray is at http://foundrydavis.com/ while the website for Saloon will be at http://www.saloondavis.com/
