A Medford restaurant that closed 25 years ago after being in business for more than six decades is going to be returning to the city.
According to The Medford Transcript and Wicked Local as well as the Medford Patch, Carroll's is planning to open on Main Street in Medford Square. The Transcript article mentions that the eatery, which had formerly been called Carroll's Diner (and resided in a different Main Street location across the Mystic River until closing back in 1986), has received approval from the city to add three awnings, reversing an earlier decision against the plan. Carroll's also has gained approval to place windows in the side of the structure, allowing for views of the river.
The space in which Carroll's is opening is where the Italian restaurant Il Faro used to be until closing earlier this year. Il Faro was a dining spot that our sister site had featured awhile back, with the review being at this link:

A January opening date for Carroll's is planned, according to the article.
[May 3, 2012 update: Carroll's is now officially open for business. Thanks to a poster on the hiddenboston Twitter page for letting us know.]
The address for this new restaurant in Medford Square is: Carroll's, 101 Main Street, Medford, MA, 02155.
