Update: Acropolis in Needham Has Closed

[Ed note: This article was updated on May 20, as we have confirmed that this restaurant has indeed shut down.]

A Greek restaurant in Needham has closed its doors after being in business for a little more than a year.

A poster on the Chowhound site mentioned yesterday that an email was received stating that Acropolis on Highland Avenue is closing. A call placed to the restaurant this afternoon indicates that their number is no longer in service, though the phone appeared to be working earlier today (no one was answering, however). [May 20 update: An email that we received after this article was written indicated that the restaurant has already shuttered, and the Chowhounder above posted the aforementioned email from Acropolis, which shows that the place closed "due to high operating costs etc."]

Acropolis first opened in March of 2011, featuring such items as gyros, souvlaki, stuffed grape leaves, and moussaka. The restaurant had taken over the space where Gabriella's Bistro, Euro Taste, and Firebird's all had been.

The address for Acropolis was: Acropolis, 1257 Highland Avenue, Needham, MA, 02492.
