Landry’s Inc. Makes Offer for Ark Restaurants (Owner of Durgin-Park)

A Houston-based company that runs a number of restaurant chains has made a proposal to buy the owner of an historic Boston eatery.

The Boston Herald is reporting that Houston-based Landry's Inc. has put out an unsolicited buyout offer on Ark Restaurants, which owns Durgin-Park in Faneuil Hall along with a number of other restaurants, with the price being $71 million. Ark has owned Durgin-Park since 2007, while Landry's operates such chains as Morton's, the Rainforest Cafe, and McCormick & Schmick's.

Durgin-Park, which first opened in 1827, offers classic American and regional New England fare. As mentioned last month, the dining spot is looking to open a second location at Logan Airport in East Boston. at some point.
