Knight Moves (a Board Game Cafe) Is Opening in Brookline

It looks like an eclectic cafe is on its way to one of the busiest sections of Brookline.

According to a Twitter post that was sent to us over the weekend, Knight Moves is going to be opening on Beacon Street in the Coolidge Corner neighborhood, with the new spot looking to be a place where customers can play board games. The cafe's blog mentions that the folks behind it are "a collection of Board Game Geeks" who have "lamented the inconveniences Board Gamers face in Boston" such as "wobbly tables, noisy venues, and that the city seems to roll up the streets at 9 o Clock." The Twitter poster says that Knight Moves will be teaming up with Eureka! Puzzles--which resides at 1349 Beacon Street--with the Town of Brookline website showing that the cafe will be located nearby at 1402 Beacon Street.

It is not yet known exactly when Knight Moves will be opening (the Twitter poster says this fall); as soon as we get more information, we will post an update here.

[November 25 update: According to a new post from its blog, Knight Moves is now open, though only for board games at this point; they are still working with the town of Brookline to start serving food and drink.]

[January 14, 2014 update: Eater Boston states that Knight Moves is now serving snacks and coffee, with future plans including an expanded menu, more games, and upgrades to the tables and chairs. EB also says that the place is open until 11:00 PM Sunday through Thursday and 2:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.]
