Journeyman in Somerville Decides to Go Menu-Less

A restaurant in Somerville that focuses on locally-sourced foods has decided to make a rather interesting change.

According to a post from the dining spot, Journeyman in Union Square has gotten rid of its menu, with the Sanborn Court eatery going instead with a $75 fixed-price dinner each night--though a $40 dinner option will also be available after 8:30 PM on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The post does mention that a vegetarian menu will continue to be offered, wine pairings and non-alcoholic pairings will still be available, and that they will "always do [their] best to accommodate dietary restrictions."

Journeyman first opened its doors in September of 2010

The address for this restaurant in Union Square is: Journeyman, 9 Sanborn Court, Somerville, MA, 02143. Its website can be found at:

A clarification: The price for the dinner menu does not fall to $40 at 8:30pm on those days, but rather a separate supper menu is available at that time. This is the same as the "4 for $40" menu that was previously offered.

We went last night to check out the new non-menu, and everything was fantastic as always. It's really not that different from what they were doing before... given that there's no a la carte menu, would you really make a decision on whether or not to dine there based on what was on the board that evening?

Also, this week is Star Wars week at neighboring backbar. The menu is full of groan-worthy puns such as the "Obi Wan Negroni".
