Tornado Restaurant and Lounge Is Opening in Malden

A new restaurant is on its way to Malden, and it looks like it will be featuring small plates.

According to a poster on the Chowhound site, Tornado Restaurant and Lounge is going to be opening on Florence Street, taking over the space where Guadalajara Mexican Grill and Bar had been, and before it, Montebello Ristorante Italiano and Artichokes. The website for the new dining spot says that it will offer Asian-inspired tapas, though no other information is given about the place on its site.

It is not known what the background of the name "Tornado" might be, though it could refer to the high school sports teams in Malden, which are named the Golden Tornadoes.

[November 4 update: A note sent to us from the place mentions that Tornado Restaurant and Lounge soft-opens today, while its website now shows a menu that includes such items as tomato-lemongrass soup, fish tacos, oysters Rockefeller, seared avocados, pretzel sandwiches, salmon crudo, pan-seared duck breast, and aged sirloin.]

The address for this new spot in Malden is: Tornado Restaurant and Lounge, 2 Florence Street, Malden, MA, 02146. Its website will be at http://www.tornadorestaurantandlounge.com/
