Mike's Pastry Is Opening in Cambridge's Harvard Square

A landmark pastry shop in Boston is expanding into one of the busiest sections of Cambridge.

According to a Harvard Square Advisory Committee page on the City of Cambridge website, Mike's Pastry on Hanover Street in the North End is looking to open a new shop on Dunster Street in Harvard Square. The post mentions that the pastry shop is seeking a Fast Order Food Establishment Special Permit for the new place, with a meeting on the proposal scheduled for January 27.

[January 29 update: The Boston Globe mentions that Mike's received support from the Harvard Square Advisory Committee earlier this week, though it still has to get a special permit and a license from the city (it will meet with the Board of Zoning Appeal tomorrow for a fast order food special permit). If all goes well, the new Mike's could open sometime in late May or early June, with six seats inside the space and the focus being on takeout.]

[February 5 update: CBS Boston states that the Board of Zoning Appeal has approved plans for Mike's Pastry to open in Harvard Square.]

[November 13 update: According a note on its Facebook page, the new location of Mike's Pastry in Harvard Square is now open.]

Mike's Pastry first opened in the North End in the 1940s.

The address for this proposed pastry shop in Harvard Square is 11 Dunster Street, Cambridge, MA, 02138.
