The Old Spot in Salem Is Closing

One of the relatively few English pubs in the Greater Boston area is going to be closing.

According to a Facebook post from the place, The Old Spot in Salem will be shutting its doors on July 31, with the note indicating that a lease issue apparently led to the decision. The post also mentions that the folks behind the pub are looking to sell their liquor license and that those who may be interested can send them a private message.

The Old Spot first opened approximately eight years ago, offering a mix of classic American dishes and traditional English pub food, including clam chowder, cheese and gravy fries, burgers, slow-roasted pork sandwiches, meat pies, fish and chips, and steak tips. The drinks list included a variety of beers, bourbons, whiskeys, and port.

The address for this soon-to-close English pub in Salem is: The Old Spot, 121 Essex Street, Salem, MA, 01970. Its website can be found at http://www.theoldspot.com/
