Eater Boston is reporting that Joey's on Market Street is shutting down after business hours on Sunday, July 27, with a Facebook post from the bar saying "to come by and say Thank you Joey for being here for so long and making a place for us to come to that no matter how you were dressed or how you felt you could walk in, see a friendly face and the day or night would get that much better." One it closes, the liquor license may be going to the Dorchester, a restaurant coming to Neponset Avenue near Dorchester's Neponset Circle.
According to a page on the Manta site, Joey's has been in business since 1984.
