King Arthur's Lounge in Chelsea Shuts Down; City Revokes All Licenses

An infamous strip joint and bar just north of Boston has shuttered, and its closure may be permanent.

The Chelsea Record is reporting that King Arthur's Lounge on Beacham Street is now closed, with the Chelsea License Commission taking all of its licenses in response to back taxes and fines owed along with police complaints. The article also indicates that the bar apparently closed its doors for awhile without letting the city know, even though businesses are required to tell the city if they do so. For now, it appears that King Arthur's will likely never reopen, though if this changes, we will post an update here.

[January 7, 2015 update: According to an article in the Boston Herald, the King Arthur's Lounge property has been auctioned off to a wholesale produce executive from Quincy, who is hoping to open a hotel at the site.]

King Arthur's Lounge first opened in the 1970s and had originally been both a motel and a bar.

The address for this now-closed strip joint and bar in Chelsea was: King Arthur's Lounge, 200 Beacham Street, Chelsea, MA, 02150.
