Boston Beer Works Plans to Open Location in Former Watch City Brewing Co. Space in Waltham

A local group of restaurants and brewpubs is going to be opening another location, and this one is taking over the site where another brewpub and brewery had been until recently.

The Waltham Patch is reporting (via @DowntownWaltham) that Boston Beer Works will open in Waltham, moving into the former Watch City Brewing Co. space on Moody Street. The article mentions that based on the other locations of the brewpubs/breweries, the new place may be called Waltham Beer Works (though this has not been confirmed as of yet). No opening date has been given for the new Beer Works.

[August 15 update: The Waltham News Tribune mentions that the new restaurant and brewpub will indeed be called Waltham Beer Works, and that it will honor the space by offering "Watch City" beers (and they hope to either retrieve the old Watch City Brewing clock that had been out front or replace it with a new one). The new place is not expected to open anytime soon, as the article says that several months of renovations are likely needed once they receive the needed permits for the site.]

[October 30 update: According to a Twitter post from @CharcoalGuidos (and confirmed by @Newswatch8), a liquor license transfer from Bullets Bar and Grill to Waltham Beer Works is in the works, with the former apparently closing its doors at some point soon.]

Watch City Brewing Co. shut down in June, with the owner saying that she had hoped to get finances needed to reopen; this never happened and the brewpub and brewery were sold off in pieces at an auction that was held in late July.

Locations of Beer Works can be found near North Station, in the Fenway, and at Logan Airport as well as in Framingham, Hingham, Lowell, and Salem. Its website is at http://www.beerworks.net/
