Brighton Beer Garden Owners Looking to Close Bar to Make Room for Apartments

The group behind a beer garden and sports bar in Brighton Center is making plans to tear down the spot and replace it with apartments.

Universal Hub is reporting that The Cronin Group wants to get rid of the Brighton Beer Garden on Market Street so that it can put up an apartment building that would have parking, commercial space on the ground floor, and a roofdeck. The article says that the proposal was shown to the Brighton Allston Improvement Association yesterday, with the plans for the seven-story building with 34 apartments going up against some resistance because of the height of the structure along with concerns about the building ushering in a wave of development that would be too much for Brighton Center to handle. A revised plan from The Cronin Group will apparently be coming, according to UH.

In addition to the Brighton Beer Garden, The Cronin Group is behind such dining and drinking spots as the Boston Beer Garden, Temazcal, Jerry Remy's, The Whiskey Priest, and Atlantic Beer Garden.

The address for the Brighton Beer Garden is 386 Market Street, Brighton, MA, 02135.
