The Boston Hospitality and Tourism Industry Blog is reporting (via NorthEndWaterfront.com) that Tia's on the Waterfront is planning to open a second-story bar, with the North End/Waterfront Residents' Association (NEWRA) hearing the proposal and hoping that the city of Boston gives it permission to have advisory role on the plans even though Tia's is technically not in the North End. Currently, there is little other information about this proposal; as soon as we find out more, we will post an update here.
[October 9 update: A new post from NorthEndWaterfront.com mentions that Tia's plans include expanding into a two-story complex with an open-air deck on the second floor that could have a retractable roof so it can be open year round, along with a doubling of capacity to approximately 550.]
Tia's, which first opened more than 30 years ago, is known in part for its bustling outdoor bar area across from the water.
