Tony G's Barbecue Is Opening in Belmont

It looks like a brand new BBQ spot is on its way to the Boston area, and it will be opening in the space where a Cuban eatery had been before moving to a new location.

According to several sources--and confirmed by The Belmontonian--Tony G's Barbecue is planning to open in Belmont, taking over the former Gustazo Cuban Restaurant & Cafe spot on Belmont Street by the Watertown border (Gustazo now resides on Main Street in Waltham). The Belmontonian article mentions that the proposed dining spot would be open for lunch and dinner and would be self-serve and takeout only, with food cooked by way of an "oven range" rather than by grilling or deep frying. A few items planned for the menu include brisket, ribs, BBQ chicken, and pulled pork, according to the article.

[July 3 update: A Facebook post from the Belmont Citizen-Herald says that Tony G's opens its doors on July 8.]

The person behind Tony G's Barbecue is affiliated with Pho And Thai, an Asian restaurant in the Waverly Square section of town.

The address for this new BBQ place in Belmont is 289 Belmont Street, Belmont, MA 02478.
