Ultimate Pizza and The Landing Pub in Weymouth Landing Both Demolished After Last Week's Fire

A South Shore pizza place that was hit by a fire last week has been razed--and a drinking spot in the same building has been taken down as well.

The Braintree Forum is reporting that Ultimate Pizza and The Landing Pub in Weymouth Landing were both demolished on Wednesday, with cleanup work at the Commercial Street site taking place yesterday and today. The article indicates that although the fire damage was centered at the pizza spot, the bar had also been damaged enough--including the roof being partially off as well as walls and partitions being down--that it had to be razed, too, along with a vacant space within in the structure.

Before the blaze occurred, the family behind Ultimate Pizza had actually been making plans to take the building down and opening a 95-seat restaurant in the space; it appears that they may go ahead with these plans once the site is completely cleaned up.

Sad to see the last remnant of the Landing "ship yard" pubs go. Landing Pub, Helen's, Ye Old Red Brick Grill all had a lot of history from all the men and women who worked at the old Quincy Shipyard during WWII and after. At least Helen's still stands as Four Square now.

Having said that, The Landing Pub was way past it's prime. Stopped in a few months ago and except for a couple newer televisions and Keno, everything else in there was from 1960's - 70's or older. Old ripped kitchen stools were the bar stools, etc. It was like the bar gave up long ago,
