According to an article in The Boston Globe, Woburn-based Boston Restaurant Associates, Inc. filed for bankruptcy protection in federal court yesterday, with the plan being to reorganize and try to keep 12 or more of its 19 restaurants in operation. The Globe says that four "low-performing" dining spots that it runs will be closing, though it has not been mentioned which ones will be shutting down. [Update: According to a Twitter post from Boston Globe writer @DanielAdams86 (and confirmed by Regina's), the four locations that have permanently closed are Watertown, North Attleborough, Nashua, and Manchester; Adams says that all other locations will remain open.]
Boston Restaurant Associates runs a total of 17 locations of Regina's along with two locations of Polcari's in Saugus and Woburn, according to the Boston Globe. [Ed note: The Regina's locations in Allston and at Foxwoods in Connecticut are run by a different company and are not affected by the bankruptcy.]
Regina's, first started out in Boston's North End in 1926, is considered by some to have the best pizza in the Boston area--if not New England--at its flagship location on Thacher Street in the North End. Its website can be found at http://www.pizzeriaregina.com/
