According to a note on the 26 West Broadway Facebook page, Worden Hall is going to be opening near the Broadway T station, with the place apparently planning to open this summer. Earlier, we had mentioned that the people behind the new eatery run Five Horses Tavern in Somerville's Davis Square and Boston's South End, and a post within the jobs section of the BostonChefs.com site seems to confirm this, saying that "Hawkeye Hospitality Inc., the up-and-coming Boston-based restaurant group behind two Five Horses Tavern locations, is looking for an Assistant General Manager for their newest concept. This dynamic new location promises to be the welcome mat for South Boston."
Worden Hall had been looking to get its liquor license from the now-closed Patriot (formerly The Blackthorn Pub) near the W Broadway/Dorchester Street intersection; it is not known for sure whether this transfer went through or if the new restaurant is getting its license elsewhere.
[July 22 update: Eater Boston confirms what we had heard in a Twitter post earlier, that Worden Hall now has its signage up and may be relatively close to opening. The article from EB also says that the dining and drinking spot is looking to be "the welcome mat for South Boston" based on a job post from BostonChefs.com, and that it will offer more than 100 craft beers and 140 whiskeys. (The article states that it indeed acquired its liquor license from the now-closed Patriot bar as well.)]
[August 5 update: A new article from Eater Boston mentions that Worden Hall will be opening by the end of this month, and that it will include a bar top inlaid with nearly 13,000 pennies, a mural showing the Saratoga race track (owner Dylan Welsh is from Saratoga), an open kitchen, and a private dining area.]
[August 17 update: A Twitter post from Worden Hall says that "Barring an act of God," the place will open its doors on August 27.]
