Giacomo's Ristorante Is Opening in Melrose

It looks like one of the most popular Italian restaurants in Boston is going to be expanding.

Eater Boston is reporting that Giacomo's Ristorante in the city's North End is planning to open a new outlet in Melrose, taking over the space on Main Street where Absolutely Fabulous had been until closing recently. (As mentioned here in April, that restaurant is planning to move to a new space on nearby Franklin Street.) An earlier blog post from Mayor Robert J. Dolan had mentioned that a "high end Italian restaurant" was looking to move into the space, but at the time (late June), no name had been given.

The North End location of Giacomo's is extremely popular with tourists and locals alike and often has long lines out front; its sister restaurant on Columbus Avenue in the South End is a quieter (and less-crowded) alternative.

The address for the new location of Giacomo's Ristorante in Melrose is 454 Main Street, Melrose, MA, 02176. The blog for the restaurant can be found at http://giacomosblog-boston.blogspot.com/

[May 5, 2016 update: The Melrose Free Press states that the new Giacomo's in Melrose plans to open sometime between May 16 and May 23.]

[May 17, 2016 update: Eater Boston mentions (via the restaurant's Facebook page) that Giacomo's opens its Melrose location on Monday, May 23.]
