The Maiden Is Opening in South Boston

It looks like a well-known Boston-area restaurateur is opening a brand new dining and drinking spot in one of the city's hottest neighborhoods.

According to a licensing board notice sent from a source, The Maiden is looking to open on W Broadway in South Boston, taking over the space where the now-closed Owl Station Bar and Bistro had been (and before that, Slainte). The note says that the manager of the proposed spot is Esti Parsons, who has been involved with such places as Zinc, Radius, Great Bay, Via Matta, and Rialto, and is now co-owner of Sam's, a waterfront restaurant that recently closed but will be reopening next door in a new space. It looks like The Maiden would have a dining room, a bar, and seating for 80, with a proposed closing time of 1:00 AM. (The restaurant is also seeking to acquire the beer and wine license from the now-closed Prima e Dopo, which was an East Boston bar owned by the people behind Rino's.)

[October 8 update: Eater Boston states that The Maiden plans to open sometime this fall, and that the slogan on its social media pages is "Oysters & cheese & meats, oh my!"]

[December 21 update: A new post from Eater Boston mentions that The Maiden is now open, and that (as indicated earlier) the restaurant focuses on oysters, cheese, and charcuterie, along with beer, wine, and cocktails. EB also says that Esti Parsons, her husband Drew, and Drew's brother Jon are the owners of the place, while Jason Cheek (KO Prime, Merrill & Co., Sam's) and Tyler Potter (Eastern Standard, KO Prime, The Lower Depths) are the executive chef and sous chef, respectively.]

The address for this new restaurant and bar is 28 West Broadway, South Boston, MA, 02127.
