Home.stead Bakery and Cafe to Open in Dorchester's Fields Corner

A new eatery is getting ready to open in Dorchester, and it will be located in an historic building a short distance from a Southeast Expressway.

According to its website, Home.stead Bakery & Cafe is opening within the Lenane Building in Fields Corner, with the place hoping to meet the "unmet demand for Limited-Service Eating Places" in the neighborhood. The site mentions that the dining spot is planning to host social gatherings including having live music and displays of art from people in the local area, and that it will offer fresh and affordable food items such as fruit bowls, quiche, breakfast burritos, house-made breads, local bagels, egg salad, veggie burgers, tuna melts, kale chips, and more.

The Lenane Building, which is located at the corner of Dorchester Avenue and Adams Street, dates back to 1906; an architectural description page within the Dorchester Atheneum site calls it a "great architectural treasure" and the "most highly visible, placemaking landmark" at Fields Corner.

The address for the upcoming Home.stead Bakery & Cafe is 1448 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, MA, 02122. Its website can be found at http://dorchesterhomestead.com/
