Local Restaurateur Ken Kelly Has Passed Away

A restaurant owner who was behind several Somerville dining and drinking spots has died.

According to an obituary in The Somerville Times, Ken Kelly of Winchester passed away on December 23, leaving behind his wife and children along with family members in the local area, Ireland, Bermuda, and Maine. Kelly owned the River Bar at Somerville's Assembly Row, the Independent and Brass Union in Union Square, and Foundry and Saloon in Davis Square, and he was also a member of the Somerville Chamber of Commerce and was the recipient of the John W. Fitzgerald Lifetime Achievement Award.

A wake will be held for Ken Kelly today and tomorrow at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home in Powderhouse Square, with the funeral procession taking place Wednesday morning followed by a mass at St. Joseph Church in Union Square.
