Temporary Wall Collapses in Front of Malden Restaurant Site; Five People Trapped, Two Taken to Hospital

A temporary construction wall collapsed in front of an upcoming Malden restaurant, trapping five people and sending two to the hospital.

According to an article from WCVB Boston, a mother and baby were taken to a local hospital with the mother having minor injuries after a plywood construction barrier in front of 15 Pleasant Street was apparently blown down by a wind gust. (The other three people who were caught under the wall were not injured, and the baby was uninjured as well.) Based on the address and an earlier post from the Malden Observer, the barrier was set up in front of what will eventually be Ming Seafood, a high-end Chinese restaurant that is taking over the former Family Dollar space.

WCVB mentions that the Malden police and fire departments are working with the building inspector to see if the property has sustained any other damage, while the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the collapse with local officials.
