More than a year ago, we mentioned that a Florida-based chain of pizza spots was planning to expand into the Greater Boston area, and that the expansion could include a location in Newton. Now we have learned that this will indeed be happening.
According to an article in the Boston Business Journal, Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza has plans to open somewhere in Newton as well as in Littleton and Northborough, joining their existing locations in Westwood and Reading (the latter of which opens Monday). No address has been given for the Newton location, which had been mentioned in a job post dating all the way back to December of 2014; as soon as we find out the address, we will post an update here.
Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza first started out in Fort Lauderdale in 2002 and now has locations in a number of states, mostly along the East Coast. The website for the chain is at https://acfp.com/
[January 27, 2017 update: The Tables section of The Boston Globe states that Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza opens in Newton on Monday, January 30, and that it will be located at 180 Needham Street; this will be Newton's third coal-fired pizza place, joining Pepe's in Chestnut Hill and Max and Leo's in Newton Corner.]
