According to a licensing board page within the city of Boston website, The Retreat is looking to open on Sumner Street in the Jeffries Point section of the neighborhood, taking over the former 303 Cafe spot. The notice says that the dining spot is seeking a full liquor license and plans to have an outdoor patio during the warmer months, though little else is known about it, including when it might open and what its menu will offer. As soon as we find out more information about the restaurant, we will post an update here.
303 Cafe first opened in 2007, offering a mix of comfort food and New American fare. In the summer of 2011, it was reported that the dining spot was apparently in financial trouble, and it closed for a short time that August before shutting down for good in 2012.
The address for this planned restaurant in East Boston is: The Retreat, 303 Sumner Street, East Boston, MA, 02128.
