Stop & Shop in Roxbury Reopens After Being Shut Down Because of Unsanitary Conditions

Earlier this week, we reported that a supermarket in a Boston neighborhood had been shut down by the city for various issues, including a rodent infestation. Now we have learned that the store has been allowed to open back up again.

An update from WCVB Boston indicates that Stop & Shop in Roxbury was given the green light to reopen yesterday after the store was cleaned and sanitized and pest control measures were taken. The Blue Hill Avenue market had been shut down on Monday by the Boston Inspectional Services Department after inspectors found such issues as a dead mouse in a sticky trap, mice eating through bags of food in the bakery area, trash found outside of the dumpster behind the market, and a dead rat. WCVB says that moving forward, unannounced inspections will take place at the store to make sure it remains clean and free of further infestations.

The address for the Roxbury Stop & Shop is 460 Blue Hill Avenue, Roxbury, MA, 02121.
