West Side Lounge in Cambridge Has Closed

A couple of months ago, we reported that a dining and drinking spot in Cambridge was up for sale. Now we have learned that the place has closed for good.

According to a tweet posted this evening, the West Side Lounge announced that they were shutting down today, with a Facebook post from the Mass. Ave. spot saying "We want to thank our customers for 16 wonderful years, during which you all became part of our WSL family. We hope you'll come visit your favorite West Side staff members at Cambridge Common and Christopher's in the near future. Thanks to all of you who have made the West Side experience so memorable."

In February, the West Side Lounge announced that it was on the selling block, though it was not known at the time what might happen to the space or when it would change hands, though it had been hoping that the sale would take place within a couple of months. The restaurant and lounge first opened in 1999, featuring mostly New American fare along with modern and classic cocktails.

The address for the now-closed West Side Lounge was 1680 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02138.
