Team Behind Worthy Burger and Worthy Kitchen in Vermont to Open Location of Worthy Kitchen in Brookline

The people behind a pair of highly-regarded Vermont restaurants will expand to the Boston area.

According to a source, the folks who run Worthy Burger in South Royalton and Worthy Kitchen in Woodstock is looking to come to the local area, with a message from the place confirming that they are just starting with the permitting process for a new location. Worthy Burger first opened in 2012 in an old freight house and almost immediately began to get press from media outlets in Vermont and closer to Boston for its wood-fired burgers and craft beer list that includes some of the most sought-after beers in the state and elsewhere in New England. The following year, a "farm diner" in Woodstock called Worthy Kitchen opened, with the place offering comfort food and a list of local and regional craft beers. Both eating and drinking spots are run by Dave Brodrick (who founded the Blind Tiger in New York), Executive Chef Jason Merrill, and CFO Kurt Lessard.

[April 11-12 update: Boston Magazine states that the new spot will be a second location of Worthy Kitchen, and that it hopes to open later this year at 202 Washington Street in Brookline Village, which is where both Alere and Project 202 had been hoping to open over the past few years.]

[October 6 update: A chat with an employee at Worthy Burger during a weekend visit indicates that Worthy Kitchen could open sometime this winter--and this information was subsequently confirmed by Wicked Local Brookline. (Wicked Local also says that the place may have a rooftop bar by next summer.)]

[May 26, 2017 update: A note from @BostonTweet indicates that Worthy Kitchen is still on the way--and will open next to The Village Works coworking space--but it appears that it won't open until this fall at the earliest, based on what The Village Works told @BostonTweet.]
