Eater Boston is reporting (via a license commission general hearing page) that Catalyst Cafe has applied for a common victualler license to operate on Binney Street, with the eatery possibly having seating for 46 plus another 6 on an outdoor patio during the warmer months. It appears that the dining spot might focus mainly on breakfast and lunch, as proposed hours are 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily, though this has not been confirmed as of yet. The person behind Catalyst Cafe--William Kovel--is also the chef/owner of Catalyst, a New American restaurant at 300 Technology Square that first opened in 2011. No specifics have been given on Catalyst Cafe, with EB saying that it is in its early stages of planning.
The address for this upcoming dining spot in Kendall Square is: Catalyst Cafe, 75-125 Binney Street, Cambridge, MA, 02142.
[September 6 update: According to a fall openings feature from The Boston Globe, Catalyst Cafe plans to open in November, and it will be a casual eatery that could be offering such items as breakfast sandwiches, doughnuts, and hot chocolate.]
[February 6, 2017 update: A new article from Eater Boston mentions that Catalyst Cafe plans to open this Thursday (February 9), and that it will be a European-style cafe that offers house-made breakfast and lunch items.]
