Intelligentsia Coffee Is Opening Shop in Watertown

It looks like a Chicago-based coffee roaster is opening a shop in the Boston area.

Eater Boston is reporting that Intelligentsia Coffee is planning to open a retail outlet in Watertown and it is now looking to hire for the upcoming store. The coffee roasting company, which is majority-owned by California-based Peet's Coffee & Tea, currently has six locations in Chicago, three in the Los Angeles area, and one in New York City; the shops offer coffee and espresso options, along with some food items including pastries.

Intelligentsia first started out in 1995 on Broadway on the north side of Chicago and is now headquartered on West Fulton Street in the West Town/Near West Side area. Its website can be found at http://www.intelligentsiacoffee.com/

[June 21, 2017 update: According to a press release, Intelligentsia Coffee in Watertown plans to open to the public on Friday, June 30, with the address being 810 Mt. Auburn Street.]

[July 19, 2017 update: A new article from Eater Boston states that Intelligentsia Coffee officially opened its doors today, and that the retail space is at 810 Mt. Auburn Street while a coffee training lab and sales office is at 818 Mt. Auburn Street.]
