The Social Register Planning to Open within Aloft Hotel in South Boston

It looks like a new restaurant and bar is coming to a hotel in one of the hottest sections of Boston, and the person behind a popular restaurant and cocktail lounge appears to be involved.

A licensing board page within the City of Boston website mentions that The Social Register is looking to open on the first floor of the Aloft Boston Seaport Hotel, which is across from The Lawn on D in South Boston. The listing shows that the new spot would have three rooms that would include a dining area and two bars, and it would also have an outdoor patio for the warmer months. Earlier, we had reported that a bar called Aloft Lounge would be opening in the hotel, but the hearing page also shows that Aloft Lounge is now seeking to transfer its license to another business (Certified Meatball Company) while a spot called W XYZ® bar has already moved in, so it appears that Aloft Lounge might not be coming to the hotel after all.

The manager listed for The Social Register is Russell Demariano, who is currently the owner of The Brahmin in the Back Bay and had previously been involved with the now-closed Stage nightclub in the Theatre District and the also-closed Red Sky Restaurant & Lounge in downtown Boston.

The address for the upcoming Social Register (and the Aloft Hotel) is 401 D Street, South Boston, MA, 02210. The website for the hotel can be found at http://www.aloftbostonseaport.com/

[June 21, 2017 update: According to a press release, The Social Register opens to the public on Wednesday, June 28. ]
