According to a Twitter post from over the weekend, Carmen in the North Square section of the neighborhood is no longer in business, with a sign out front saying "While we will no longer be at this location, we will be reopening at a new spot in the near future." Phone calls placed to the dining spot went to voicemail with the message saying that they had been closed for vacation earlier this month, while a check on its website indicates that it is currently down.
Carmen, which first opened 16 years ago, was a rustic spot that featured modern takes on Italian cuisine, including such items as steamed clams, braised short rib ravioli, baked penne, roasted rack of pork, pan-seared duck breast, and crespelle.
The address for the now-closed Carmen was 33 North Square, Boston, MA, 02113; it is not yet known what the new address for the restaurant might be; as soon as we find out, we will update this article.
