Bistro Duet Opening in Flora Space in East Arlington

A couple of months ago, we reported that one of Arlington's best-known restaurants was closing and a new dining spot was planning to move in. Now we have learned a bit more about the upcoming place, including an official name given to it.

According to an article in the Arlington Advocate, Cyrille Couet and Wayne Duprey have applied to open Duet Restaurant in the old Flora space on Mass. Ave., with the new spot being a European-style eatery with French leanings that was originally to have been called Financier, The post says that the Kickstarter campaign to raise $20,000 for the East Arlington restaurant was a success, and that Flora owners Mary Jo and Bob Sargent are actually assisting in the financing of Duet, while Coucet and Duprey have also secured a loan from a local bank as well. It appears that at least part of the funding will be used for renovations to the space.

Flora, which was a popular neighborhood restaurant that focused on seasonal New American items, closed in mid-July after 20 years in business.

The address for the upcoming Duet Restaurant is 190 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA, 02474.

[September 14 update: A post in Your Arlington and an article in Wicked Local state that Duet--which will actually be called Duet Bistro--plans to open in November, and that former Flora catering manager Carla Dorato will join the team as assistant restaurant manager.]

[January 1, 2017 update: Eater Boston states that Bistro Duet has opened.]
