KoKo Bakery Has Opened in Newton

A brand new bakery has come to the western suburbs of Boston, and the person behind it comes from some well-known local spots.

Eater Boston is reporting (via Hungry Onion) that KoKo Bakery is now open in Newton, moving into a space on California Street in the Nonantum area of the city by the Watertown line. The website for the bakery notes that founder/owner Nobuko Maruyama comes from such places as Japonaise Bakery, the Boston Harbor Hotel, and The Langham Hotel, along with King Arthur in Vermont, and she also worked at the MIT catering department and several independent bakers in the local area.

KoKo Bakery offers muffins, scones, brownies, cakes, donuts, sandwiches, coffee, tea, and more, and it also features such breads as German rye, baguettes, whole wheat, white toasting bread, and French country bread.
