My Diner in South Boston Planning to Reopen in New Space

It looks like a beloved diner that was forced to close a few months ago to make way for new development may be reopening in a new location.

According to a message sent from chef Kenny Jervis, My Diner, which had been located on A Street in South Boston, is planning to open in a new space on E 8th Street (between Dorchester Heights and City Point on the other side of Southie), with a Facebook post from the eatery confirming this, saying that an abutters meeting will take place on Monday, September 26 to discuss the plans. Both My Diner and Williams Tavern had to shut down in June in order to make way for a new condo development at the A Street site; at the time of its closure, the people behind My Diner mentioned that they had hoped to reopen in a new space in the spring of 2017, but an exact address had not been given at that point--and the planned retail space slated for the development appeared to be much too small for a diner.

The address for the proposed new location of My Diner is 545 E 8th Street, Boston, MA, 02127.
