Sunrise Restaurant in Dorchester Has Closed; Nhu Lan Expanding into the Space

A Vietnamese restaurant has closed its doors after being in business for approximately 15 years, and it looks like an adjacent Vietnamese eatery is taking over the space.

According to a source, Sunrise Restaurant in Dorchester is no longer in business, with signs out front indicating that Nhu Lan--which is next door and is known in part for its banh mi--is expanding into the Savin Hill space. Sunrise was one of a number of Vietnamese restaurants located on or near Dorchester Avenue in the stretch between Savin Hill and Fields Corner, and our sister site (Boston's Hidden Restaurants) has featured it as an under-the radar place to try--and included its grilled beef skewers among the best dishes tried in 2015. The review can be found below:

It is not yet known when the expansion of Nhu Lan will be complete (based on a picture sent, it looks like it is not yet up and running). As soon as we find out, we will post an update here.

The address for the now-closed Sunrise Restaurant was 1157 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, MA, 02125.
