Plans for My Diner to Reopen in South Boston Fall Through; Moving to Melrose

Earlier this fall, we reported that a popular South Boston diner that closed to make way for new development was hoping to reopen in a nearby space in Southie. Now we have learned that these plans have fallen through and it will now be moving to the suburbs.

Eater Boston is reporting (via Caught in Southie) that My Diner will be reopening in Melrose, which follows on the heels of the eatery telling us last month that they had stopped working on a possible move from A Street to E 8th Street in South Boston. Eater says that the new location of the restaurant will be on Main Street in Melrose, with the address indicating that it will be located on the southern edge of the downtown area. It is not yet known when My Diner will open in its new home (a Facebook post says the date is TBA); as soon as we find out when it may open, we will post an update here.

Both My Diner and Williams Tavern were forced to close in June because a new condo development is being built at the site.

The address for the new location of My Diner is 399 Main Street, Melrose, MA, 02176.

[January 9, 2017 update: A new article from Eater Boston states that My Diner is now open in its new home in Melrose.]
