According to a job post on the Craigslist site, In a Pig's Eye in Salem is going to become home to Mercy Tavern, with the new owner of In a Pig's Eye--Pat Schultz, who is also the founder of Howling Wolf in Salem--being behind the new place. The post says that the upcoming restaurant will be "one of the most innovative and beautiful eateries/drinkeries in Salem" and that renovations are currently taking place, with the menu also being overhauled; when it opens, Mercy Tavern will focus on "high quality English and American pub food" and hopes to have the "best burger anyone has ever tasted."
In a Pig's Eye shut down in September of 2015 after 30 years in business, and it looked like the closure would be permanent, but in October Schultz took over the space, with the goal being to close for awhile for renovations around the end of 2016 or the beginning of 2017.
