A restaurant and sports bar in South Boston that has been around for more than 20 years is shutting down.
Eater Boston is reporting (via a Facebook post from the place and a tweet from @chipsy231) that the Boston Beer Garden on E Broadway is closing for good at the end of business hours on Sunday, February 19, with ticketed charity events taking place there on the Friday and Saturday before it shutters. It is not yet known why the dining and drinking spot is closing, nor is it known what might happen to the space; as soon as we find out more, we will post an update here.
The Boston Beer Garden, which first opened in 1995, is known for its pub grub and variety of beers, wines, and cocktails. Another Boston Beer Garden can be found in Naples, FL.
The address for this soon-to-close spot in Southie is: Boston Beer Garden, 732 E Broadway, South Boston, MA, 02127. Its website is at http://www.bostonbeergarden.com/
