Spoke Wine Bar in Somerville's Davis Square Is Reopening

A beloved Somerville restaurant that closed down a few months ago due to health issues facing the owner is reopening.

Eater Boston is reporting (via a job post on the bostonchefs.com site) that Spoke Wine Bar is planning to open back up again this spring, with the post indicating that the Holland Street spot is currently looking for bartenders and servers. As Eater mentions, it is not yet known what role--if any--owner Felicia "Flea" Foster will have in the place, though it does appear that co-owner Dave Jick will likely be involved in the reopening. (Jick is also the owner of the adjacent Dave's Fresh Pasta.)

Spoke Wine Bar first opened in March of 2013 and became both an industry and neighborhood favorite with a highly-regarded wine list along with snacks, small plates, and desserts. The spot closed in late December, citing Foster's struggles with very serious health issues.

The address for Spoke Wine Bar is 89 Holland Street, Somerville, MA, 02144.

[April 14 update: The Boston Globe mentions that former bartender Mary Kurth has purchased Spoke from Felicia "Flea" Foster, and that Dave Jick from Dave's Fresh Pasta is indeed a partner.]

[April 27 update: The Somerville Journal mentions that Spoke Wine Bar hopes to open in approximately four weeks, and that it will have a full liquor license that will allow it to offer cocktails while also offering both snacks and full meals that have "heavy" Mediterranean influences.]

[May 31 update: Eater Boston states that Spoke Wine Bar is now open once again.]
