Momi Nonmi Is Opening in Cambridge's Inman Square

It looks like a new restaurant is moving into a space in Cambridge where a burger spot had been, and the person behind it is a well-known figure within the Boston-area restaurant scene.

A license commission agenda page within the city's website indicates that Momi Nonmi is looking to open in Inman Square, taking over the space where WuBurger Gourmet had been until closing last November. The manager listed for the proposed spot is Christopher Chung, who appears to be the same Christopher Chung who was involved with AKA Bistro in Lincoln until it shut down last May, and before that, Uni in Boston's Back Bay. An earlier Boston Magazine article had mentioned that Chung was "considering his next move" after the closing of AKA Bistro, and that at the time (last fall), he was popping up at various places around the Boston area, offering modern Japanese small plates.

A hearing will take place on Momi Nonmi's request for a liquor license on Wednesday, June 28.

The address for Momi Nonmi in Inman Square is 1128 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, MA, 02139.

[June 30 update: Boston Magazine confirms that Christopher Chung of AKA Bistro and Uni is indeed behind Momi Nonmi, and that it will be a casual izakaya (a Japanese-style pub) featuring sashimi, onigiri, seasonal oshizushi (pressed sushi), sake, and more.]

[October 7 update: A Facebook post from Christopher Chung mentions that Momi Nonmi opens today, though it looks like it could be a soft opening.]

[October 10 update: Boston Magazine states that Momi Nonmi officially opens tonight.]
