It looks like a brand new music club could be on its way to Somerville.
According to a job post within the Craigslist site, The Jungle is planning to open somewhere in the city (the map in the job post shows it possibly coming to Davis Square), with the spot being a community music club that features live music at night and a variety of activities prior to the shows (between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM) including open mic nights and "cover bands encouraging the crowd to play along on small percussive instruments." The post mentions that the evening activities before the live music shows will be designed to "get guests engaged with the people around them" and "help people meet new friends and form a community in the concrete jungle." A Bizapedia listing shows the owner of the place being Samuel Epstein, with the parent company being called The Jungle Club LLC.
It appears that if all goes as planned, The Jungle could be opening sometime this fall.
[June 6, 2018 update: A cached page for a meeting that took place this spring indicates that The Jungle has been looking at a space in Union Square, and at the time it had been seeking a full liquor license; a licensing commission page within the city of Somerville website also shows that the business has been seeking a common victualler license and an "entertainment by devices, performers and patrons" license as well.]
[April 1, 2019 update: It looks like The Jungle is finally getting close to opening, as a Vanyaland post mentions that the multi-purpose venue will open at 6 Sanborn Court in May. The article says that The Jungle will have a capacity of 85 and that it will mainly feature local acts while also offering yoga, music lessons, and open mic nights as well--and it will include a restaurant.]
[April 11, 2019 update: A new job post within the Craigslist site mentions that The Jungle plans to have its grand opening on May 10.]
