Shan-A-Punjab to Move to Former Rubin's Space in Brookline

An Indian restaurant in Brookline is moving, and it looks like it will reopen where an iconic deli had been.

According to a tweet from @dfphil, Shan-A-Punjab on Harvard Street is currently closed, with a sign out front saying that it is moving into the former Rubin's deli space a short distance up the street. A phone call placed to Shan-A-Punjab this morning confirms this, that the restaurant will indeed take over the space apparently by the end of the year.

Shan-A-Punjab first opened in Brookline in the latter part of 2013, taking over the space where Cognac Bistro had been; Rubin's shut its doors in August of 2016, and while there had been talk that it might reopen, those plans apparently fell through--at least in its old space.

The old address for Shan-A-Punjab was 455 Harvard Street, while its new address in the former Rubin's space will be 500 Harvard Street.

[November 22 update: Eater Boston states that Shan-A-Punjab is now open in the old Rubin's space.]
